That’s the modus operandi behind We See Beauty, a foundation that that supports the cooperative movement, female entrepreneurship, and building sustainable communities. Its first brand MAKE, carries on that mission as the world’s premiere for-benefit cosmetics line aiming to “change the beauty paradigm.”
Think pigmented products in the sleekest of sleek packaging. An army of tools that reinforce your own makeup arsenal with paraben and preservative-free composition. A collection that prides color intensity as its number one rule and really practices what it preaches. And, above all, a socially-aware brand that gives eco-design a platform and lends 33.33% of its sales—not profits—from every single product to the Do Good Be Beautiful co-op that will, in turn, create sustainable products for the home and the body. In other words, it’s everything you’d get from more commercial brands like MAC, but with a more transparent supply chain and environmental imprint that you can feel good about—and look great while doing so.
I hopped on MAKE’s team during the brand’s New York City preview, replete with 220 unique offerings from primers and powders to lipliners and lash-defining mascaras. We See Beauty creative director Ariana Mouyiaris was on hand to walk fellow beauty junkies through the line, crafted through a collaboration with two other female entrepreneurs, makeup maven Ayami Nishimura and interior designer Faye Toogood. The result is what Nishimura boasts as “true to form… what you see is what you get” brand of goods that will make you over, make you nice, and when you’re done, ensure that you’re made up right.
